When we let nature do its thing, it tends to wow us. Yet, photography of natural forms is often confined by clichéd expression. My intent is not to work within the trappings of “nature photography” or necessarily toward a “deeper exploration” of the human-nature relationship. Simply, I pursue the natural world’s inherent power to give us wondrous new realities when we do something so simple as have a closer look. How the observer integrates the viewing experience with their own personal relationship to the outside world is left up to them.
I work primarily with macro lenses in a digital system. Beyond subject arrangements, I strive to avoid manipulation beyond what can be reasonably achieved in a traditional darkroom. The laws of nature are impressive enough by themselves.
